Sheer & Spotted
Another day another pattern...this time I threw on a pair of big dotted tights. For this post, I will show you how to take a patterned tight from day to night with a few key pieces.
Day:
It was unseasonably warm this day so I kept it casual for work in a pink silky dress, faux leather vest, knee high boots, and the patterned tights.
tights: urban outfitters, dress: forever 21; vest: h&m; necklace: madewell
Night:
Later on that night I attended an anniversary party for One Lounge in D.C. I kept the tights and added a sparkly tank top, black wool shorts, white blazer (yes, white can be worn all year round in my book), and booties. I also wore a bold red lip to give this black and white outfit a pop of color.
Blazer: Madewell; Tank: J. Crew; Shorts: H&M (old); vintage gold chain
The funny thing is we didn't even plan to match! I guess BFFs really do think alike ;) The key to both of these outfits is keeping the color palettes relatively neutral, and playing with textures (sequins, leather, etc.) to add interest instead of overly bold colors and conflicting prints.

Floral Leggings: One Item, Two Ways
I had been holding off on the floral leggings trend for awhile because I couldn't find a pair that I really liked and had colors that I could incorporate well into my closet. I recently came across this pair from Urban Outfitters and was immediately drawn to them because of the fall colors. A bold pattern can be daunting so I decided to show you how you can dress them up or down to make an outfit that works without doing too much.
Outfit #1:
Pair them with darker solids and nude flats to make the pants the focal point of the outfit. Because I added the flashy necklace and oxblood blazer, I kept my hair and makeup sleek and simple.
blazer: Dalaga NYC, Sweater: Urban Outfitters; Flats: Madewell; Necklace: J.Crew
Outfit #2:
Play off of the colors in the floral pattern. I decided to highlight the autumn colors in my leggings by wearing a yellow button down and adding a berry lip. A high bun and lace up booties completed this fun look.
Shirt: Madewell; boots; forever 21; lips: MAC Pop Mode +Revlon Plum Persuasion
I think patterned leggings are a fun way to liven things up in the cold weather. What do you all think??

Pink Lady

| Dress: F21; Leopard shoes: Steve Madden; Jewelry&Purse: Madewell
The picture is not the best quality so I tried to zoom in a little on different parts of the outfit. I absolutely love this little drop-waist dress and the color is perfect for the summer! In other news, I recently moved to NY because I got a great opportunity to pursue my love of fashion. Once I get settled I will definitely post tons of new pictures. If you guys have any suggestions of places to go feel free to comment :) Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

My friends always make fun of me for snapping pics in my backyard. It's my favorite spot because the lighting is good and I am always too busy when I am out to stop and take photos. But, I will make a conscious effort to vary up the locations to make this a more interesting experience for my lovely readers :) Leave a comment and let me know if you have any other suggestions or things that you would like to see featured here!

Two Ways: Purple Sweater
I have decided to start doing posts called "Two Ways" that will show you how to take a basic item and wear it multiple ways. Before buying any item, I try to think of at least two outfits I can wear it with. In my opinion, buying a piece of clothing and wearing it the exact same way every time is a waste of money! In an effort to save some cash and flex your styling skills try pairing a staple item with something unexpected.
LOOK #1:
The bright color of the sweater keeps the look feminine and exciting.
Sweater: J. Crew; Shirt: Madewell; Shorts: H&M; Oxfords:Aldo; Tights: Hue
LOOK #2:
Break out of the typical "sweater, jeans, and boots" rut by adding a pair of colored denim and a funky necklace (although if you are wearing a bright color on top I wouldn't suggest also doing that on the bottom).
Sweater:J. Crew; Necklace: J.Crew; Jeans: Forever21; Boots: Steve Madden

I have been pretty busy lately (job interviews and what not) so I haven't been able to take as many outfit photos as I would like. But here is a quick snapshot that I took while downtown the other day:
This shirt I found at a new store in Annapolis Mall called iD. They have really cute shirts and dresses and if you are in the DMV you should check it out!
